Back to our trip in Madrid.

DAY 3

A was not feeling well on this day so unfortunately we had to abandon her.... on the streets. Nah, just kidding. So it was just me and N who ventured and conquered Madrid that day. We finally went into Almudena Cathedral with appropriate dressing. Oh my, it was really beautiful inside. And it was HUGE (count how many times I have said 'huge').

Then as we made our way to the Temple of Debod, we passed by the Royal Palace once again (and I met a hot Korean guy on the way, he was on a group tour 😉) and we came across this beautiful garden behind the palace. The bushes were designed to resemble a labyrinth, and it was rather interesting.

Well the Temple of Debod.... I was told that it was a temple floating on water.... but when I got there, they actually drained the water 😂 But it was not exactly a bad thing because I get walk in the temple. I guess 'in' is the grammar to be used. Hey I mean I managed to take a fantastic jumping shot, so although the temple was not made as if it was 'floating' on water, but all was well.

And the view from the temple was breathtaking. It was as if you could view the whole of Madrid from that peak.

One of our mission in Madrid was to try the churros with hot chocolate, and so we did at apparently the most famous place in Madrid, Chocolateria San Gines. Maybe to most people, this place is good but honestly to me.... it was just mediocre. While the churros were rather disappointing, they were not as crispy as I thought they would be, but the hot chocolate was really really delicious.

I purposely snapchat a video of me savouring the churros to A because she was really looking forward to it but she could not eat it.

Because I used A's google account to navigate since she bookmarked a ton of places to be visited. I randomly select and found this place that she bookmarked that sells fried calamaries in bun. BOYS AND GIRLS, THIS WAS BY FAR THE BEST PLACE EVER IN MADRID.

SERIOUSLY, THIS WAS SO SO SO SO FREAKING GOOD! ❤️

If anyone is ever visiting Madrid, please do stop by at this place, La Campana. This big sandwich was only €2.70.

It was so good, I had to bring A back the next day to get it.

As usual, in the evening we went back to N's place to cook dinner. But this dinner was slightly special since it was our last dinner in Madrid.

DAY 4

This was officially our last day in Madrid. But we did not actually leave Madrid until 11pm. The first place we actually went was to the CaixaForum. When I did a research later on, I realised there was also CaixaForum in Barcelona and Rome. I wonder what is it. And no, I actually did not research that far.

And yes, that is actually real grass growing on the wall.

We walked to Plaza de Cibeles next.

And then the Arc De Trimophe.

After that we walked all the way back to the Royal Palace because N wanted to show A the garden behind the palace. But before that, we decided to take a short break so we had a drink at a cafe in Plaza Mayor. This was where I tried Sangria for the first time. It was delicious but I got really dizzy after that. And of course, I had to take A to eat the calamarie bun.

And so we went to the garden. While we were there, as N wanted to take pictures with her phone, she realised her phone had gone missing. So we traced our steps back to the places where her phone could have possibly been dropped. To no avail, her phone was nowhere to be found. However, since her phone was signed in with A's google account and being an Android phone, I (using an Android phone as well) could actually trace her phone via the account. We actually managed to tracked her phone down to a specific area but since the area itself was wide, it was difficult to tracked the actual phone. So we gave up and in the end, N got herself a new iPhone 6.

Then we were off to the coach station.

EXTRA: It was this day as well that my IELTS results got released. It is a whole different story, but I think I can just say it here. As part of the requirements to pursue Masters in Nottingham University, not only do I need a 2:1, but I need IELTS with an average band of 7.0 (minimum of 6.0 in both Reading and Listening, minimum of 6.5 in Speaking and minimum of 7.0 in Writing). Honestly, after doing two practice tests for Listening and Reading, I was quite confident in those two areas, As for Speaking, it was made to be like an interview, so it was not really a big deal. But I was really worried for the Writing test because the issue that they asked varies and no one was sure as to how it would be marked. Anyway, as I missed the application to take the test in Cardiff, I had to go to Birmingham to take it instead. When I told my friends this, they were really shocked: (1) Because I decided to take IELTS here in the UK instead of Malaysia where it was said that the standard is lower and (2) because I was going to Birmingham alone. They said I am so daring. Honestly, I treated it as if I am going on a solo trip.

Anyway, I stayed at a Backpacker hostel where I shared a room with 5 other girls and I met a few nice people as well. To make it short, I did well in IELTS. I was really worried for the results (I worry for all results), but I did well /pat self on the back.

I totally exceeded my own expectation.
